Why have a Christian school?

If we have a Christian School because we want it to produce a church full of kids on fire for God, we are in for disappointment. I have to say I get a little exasperated when critics of the Christian School attack its validity because of kids who come out of them, who do not love the Lord. Christian Schools cannot replace Christian homes. Backslidden carnal parents will have backslidden carnal kids. Even if those kids are in Christian Schools. It is not the absence of the world that makes a great Christian! It is the presence of God on them that makes the difference! Does our Christian School reinforce the doctrine and convictions of our local church? It should! Perhaps a great deal of the disappointment surrounding the Christian School is related to false expectations. God did not intend a school to replace a mom and a dad.

The Scriptures teach us to count the cost before going into battle. What is it going to cost to have a Christian School? It will probably cost several good families, a lot of peace, and much time and effort that could be spent evangelizing our communities and building our churches. Yet the Public School system is full of more hell and wickedness than it has ever been. Violence, drug use and open immorality are rampant in the government school system. I cannot imagine sending my kids to that system for 35 hours a week. I do not want my children going to Sodom to be hit on. I do not want my children going to a school filled with flesh and wickedness. If we needed Christian Schools 25 years ago when it was popular to start one, think of how much more we need them now! It will cost a lot in many ways to have a Christian School, but I believe we need them. God help us to understand their purpose and potential.

The Word of God provides our answer:

"And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your hearts and you shall teach them diligently to your children." Deuteronomy 6:6,7

"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

A Christian school exists so that a child may be led into a close relationship with God through a sound educational program. Education must do more than prepare us for life on this earth; it must teach us to see God's Word and Will in all things.

The purpose of the Church

To tell others how they can know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. If you were to die today are you 100% sure that Heaven would be your home?

Here is how you can know according to the Bible:

1. Realize you are a sinner

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

2. Realize that there is a penalty for sin

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

3. Realize Jesus died to pay sin's penalty

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

4. Realize that Jesus is Lord!

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9

Pray a commitment like this out loud and make a heart decision to receive Jesus as Lord
